What's Growin' On: 7/4/06

Red

White

And Blue (It's a mental color thing.)

Realization Of The Day:
Little lambs like freshly sprouted beans for breakfast. Who knew?

Better Late Than Never

I stopped counting when the beansprout death toll reached a dozen. I think I've got the poor bean plot Cary-proofed now (though right after I put these wire tomato/lamb-away cages around it, I caught her happily trotting through one of them like it was a piece of playground equipment).

Happy 4th Of July to you!

  1. Do you have any great raspberry recipes you would like to share? I am getting about 1qt a day and am running out of ways to eat them. I did make a killer Chocolate Raspberry Squares recipe lately though. mmm

  2. Hi Kerry,
A quart of raspberries a day? Oh you lucky, lucky girl. YUM. I am getting a tiny handful a day, LOL, so no sympathy for you here, but I do have a couple of recipes you might want to try.

My Really Raspberry Tartlets are so easy to make and yet look as though you slaved away for ages on them. They are also extremely versatile--pack them on a picnic or serve them up at a swanky dinner party. I have been making them for at least 15 years. Click here for the recipe.

Recently I posted a recipe for Blueberry Breakfast Bars on Farmgirl Fare, and a couple of people wondered if raspberries could be substituted. The tartlets don't use a whole lot of berries, but this recipe calls for 3-1/2 cups of them, so I doubt I'll get the chance to try a raspberry version this year. I think it would be delish, and I'd love to hear if you try it. Someone else used blackberries and said they came out great. Click here for the Blueberry Breakfast Bar recipe.

So any chance you'd share the recipe for the killer Chocolate Raspberry Squares? : )

  3. LOL, it didn't take me long to sniff out the killer chocolate raspberry squares recipe myself over on Kerry's neat garden blog--click here. (And I'm not calling it neat just because it has brownies on it. : )

March 2013 update: My apologies for the inconvenience - I know word verification is a pain - but I've had to turn it on to help stop the ridiculous number of anonymous spam comments I've been getting every day. Thanks for your understanding.

Welcome to InMyKitchenGarden.com! Thanks so much for taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love to hear about what's going on in your own garden. I know, too, that other readers also delight in reading about your garden successes, failures, helpful tips, and lessons learned. Feel free to leave comments on older posts!

I try my best to answer all questions, but sometimes it takes me a few days to get to them. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your visits to my kitchen garden!
