What's Growin' On: 5/8/06

Straight 'N' Narrow Beans Planted On May 1st Are Sprouting

Realization Of The Day:
That whole calming realization/epiphany I had back on April 10th about no longer letting the garden overwhelm me, etc. etc. etc.? So not working right now.

  1. oooh, i'm so jealous of your early plant time...I put in 20# of potatoes yesterday, and am doing a rain dance as I type. It's quite dry right now. No beans until we turn new soil at the new house (next week maybe?) but plenty of winter squash, pumpkins, beets, chard, kale, basil, and dill going in tomorrow.

I love me some garden time.

and? I can still taste last nights' green garlic fettuccini dinner. I licked the pot clean. I can't wait for the scapes to seed so I can pull them off and stick them back in the ground immediately!

Thank you for this blog. You/It rock/s

  2. And so it begins! Susan - I haven't even gotten CLOSE to planting something like this out in the beds yet...although I have more flats of plants than I know what to do with right now. What zone are you in?

Another salad of mixed homegrown baby lettuces with dinner tonite - Yum! I don't know why it seems like adding homegrown RED lettuces makes the salad taste even better...I know they don't have THAT much of a different flavor, but it sure makes the salad look good!

  3. So no working for me either. I was actually thinking of you and you calming realization/epiphany today as I was feeling overwhelmed by all that's not done and needs to do get done very very soon in my garden. Oh, well...

  4. Being overwhelmed is part of the experience. If it wasn't super-challenging, you wouldn't feel like it was such a reward. Look at your beautiful crumbly chocolate-cakey soil. I'm jealous.

March 2013 update: My apologies for the inconvenience - I know word verification is a pain - but I've had to turn it on to help stop the ridiculous number of anonymous spam comments I've been getting every day. Thanks for your understanding.

Welcome to InMyKitchenGarden.com! Thanks so much for taking the time to write. While I'm not always able to reply to every comment, I receive and enjoy reading them all.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I especially love to hear about what's going on in your own garden. I know, too, that other readers also delight in reading about your garden successes, failures, helpful tips, and lessons learned. Feel free to leave comments on older posts!

I try my best to answer all questions, but sometimes it takes me a few days to get to them. And sometimes, I'm sorry to say, they fall through the cracks, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I look forward to hearing from you and hope you enjoy your visits to my kitchen garden!
