We are new gardeners and still trying to figure out whether we have a week or a real plant coming up in some of our spaces! We are learning as we go, and we make mistakes as well. Luckily, nature is quite forgiving and wonderful things are popping up in our garden. Thanks for your honest blogging and wonderful photos!Allisonhttp://www.rawodyssey.com/Raw_Odyssey/Farm_Blog/Farm_Blog.htmlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21318605.post-1146162030869256552006-04-27T13:20:00.000-05:002006-04-27T13:20:00.000-05:00Hi Heather,No, I'm definitely not afraid to say "o...Hi Heather,
No, I'm definitely not afraid to say "oops." And no animals were hurt by my (still not definite) mix up, LOL.

Hi Clare,
I can hear you laughing at me all the way from Sydney.

Hi Jenn,
Oh, you're right--that's definitely some kind of grass coming up nice and thick in there. It wouldn't be from the grass clippings (from the front and backyard lawns), as they don't contain seeds. However, when I mulch with barn bedding hay that is a mixture of hay and manure--well, there are seeds galore in it. And I know I put some on that bed last fall. Usually it's not a problem, but these seeds could very well have sprouted from the hay. Although, maybe not, as the same grass comes up between the raised beds and I definitely don't mulch with manure there, LOL. So who knows. It's certainly a pain, whatever the cause.

Oh, and don't ever worry about causing me unnecessary stress--or pointing out that I'm doing something (or haven't realized something) obviously idiotic. : )Farmgirl Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04851855517852917202noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21318605.post-1146161389219320972006-04-27T13:09:00.000-05:002006-04-27T13:09:00.000-05:00Er. This might not be the most politic comment, but...

(you know those buts, oh no, here it comes...)

All your grass weeds look like seedlings. Is it possible that they are coming in when you use the grass clippings as mulch?

Or are they rooted fragments sending up new growth, and I'm just causing unneccessary stress?Jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15597630887713954960noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21318605.post-1146108352614327572006-04-26T22:25:00.000-05:002006-04-26T22:25:00.000-05:00Why don't you ut a colour flag on each side or som...Why don't you ut a colour flag on each side or something like that? so that it is easier to know which side was right.....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21318605.post-1146074942037952302006-04-26T13:09:00.000-05:002006-04-26T13:09:00.000-05:00Farmgirl, I wouldn't worry about direction or simp...Farmgirl,
I wouldn't worry about direction or simple mistakes. Your blog is always fun to come and read -- and its refreshing to see someone who's not afraid to say, "oops! I need to back track a bit... " No animals or others were hurt by your mix up ... and if they were I want to know what they are taking so I wont make the same mistake! LOL
Have a great day.AzureLynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02237310242677108033noreply@blogger.com
